Questions and answers

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. Text to request a free 15-minute consultation. Ask a practical question, hear how scheduling works, and see if the fit feels right before a full intake.

Do you take insurance?

Insurance billing is handled through Stonebridge Counseling. Plans that may be accepted include Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Health Net, Magellan, Optum, UnitedHealthcare. Medi-Cal services may be available to eligible members through Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan in participating counties. Listing a plan here does not guarantee coverage.

Do I need to live in a specific city for therapy?

No. I work with adults anywhere in California through secure video sessions. You need to be physically located in California at the time of each session, regardless of which city you are in.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. Sessions are through secure video. You need to be in California at the time of each appointment, which is a legal requirement for licensed care in the state.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is mostly getting oriented. We talk about what brought you in, what you hope might be different, and any practical questions about scheduling. You do not need your whole history in one sitting, and you are also deciding whether this feels like a place where you can think out loud.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Scheduling and insurance verification are handled through Stonebridge Counseling.

Who do you work with?

I work primarily with adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, relationship patterns, burnout, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and related concerns. Many people I see describe overthinking, difficulty with boundaries, or seeing their patterns clearly without knowing how to change them. You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin.

Do I need to know what I want to talk about?

No. Some people arrive with a clear topic; others only know they feel stuck or exhausted. We can start with whatever is most present: a recent moment, a pattern you keep noticing, or simply that things have felt harder to manage lately.

How often do people usually come?

Most people begin with weekly sessions. Over time, some move to every other week once things feel more stable. The right pace depends on what you are working through and what your schedule and insurance allow.

Do you accept Medi-Cal?

Yes, for eligible members. Medi-Cal services may be available to eligible members through Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan in participating counties. Carelon Behavioral Health may manage behavioral health benefits for some commercial insurance plans, but Carelon is not itself a Medi-Cal health plan. Coverage depends on your specific plan, county, eligibility, and benefits.

What if I’m not sure my insurance is covered?

That is common. Before treatment begins, Stonebridge Counseling verifies your benefits, including whether your plan is active, what mental-health coverage includes, and any copays or authorization requirements. You can also contact Stonebridge Counseling directly if you want to check before reaching out to me.

Do you diagnose ADHD?

I do not perform formal psychological testing or diagnostic evaluations for ADHD. In therapy, we can still explore how attention, organization, and executive functioning show up in your daily life, especially if you already have a diagnosis or strongly suspect ADHD. If formal testing would be helpful, I can talk with you about appropriate referral options.

Can therapy help if I’m going through a breakup?

Yes. A breakup often stirs up patterns that were already there, like replaying what happened, questioning your judgment, or struggling to move forward. Therapy offers a place to sort through that at your pace, without someone pushing you to get over it or make a particular decision.

Can therapy help with overthinking?

Yes. This is one of the most common reasons people reach out. In therapy, we look at when rumination starts, what it is responding to, and how to develop a different relationship with worry over time.

Do you work with autistic adults?

Yes. I work with autistic adults from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective. Your way of processing the world is valid. Therapy may focus on burnout, masking, sensory overload, relationships, or navigating systems that were not designed with you in mind.

Is everything I say confidential?

What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few important exceptions required by law. These include situations involving imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else, suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult, and certain court orders. I explain confidentiality and its limits clearly during intake.
