PMDD

PMDD vs regular PMS

When premenstrual changes feel severe, persistent, and disruptive, and how PMDD differs from typical PMS.

Many people notice mood shifts before a period. PMDD is different in intensity and impact, symptoms often interfere with work, relationships, and your sense of self for days each cycle.

You may feel fine for part of the month and then suddenly overwhelmed, irritable, hopeless, or unable to tolerate ordinary stress. The whiplash can make you question your judgment.

Naming the pattern does not make it your fault. Therapy can help you track cycles, prepare support before hard weeks, and develop steadier coping without blaming yourself for biology.
