High-functioning anxiety
What high-functioning anxiety can look like when you appear fine but feel constantly behind or on edge.
High-functioning anxiety often hides behind competence. You meet deadlines, show up for others, and manage details, while feeling internally rushed, self-critical, or one mistake away from unraveling.
Because you are functioning, it can be hard to name the problem. You may tell yourself you should be grateful, or that other people have it worse, while still dreading ordinary tasks or replaying small errors.
This pattern frequently includes over-preparation, difficulty delegating, and a body that rarely fully rests.
Therapy offers a place to take that experience seriously. Living in constant low-grade alarm is exhausting over time, and it deserves to be understood on its own terms.
